To be able to enjoy your beautiful calm home, the first thing you need to have is a relaxed and peaceful state of mind. It's obvious - a good sleep is essential for happy being. I am sure you've noticed that some things in your bedroom affect the quality of your sleep. It’s hard to relax and sleep well in a room filled with clutter! So let’s go there and get rid of all of it right now. Here's what to ditch so you can enjoy your sleep and be happy!
1. Old pillows.
Seriously, pillows should be changed at least once a year. Especially if they can’t be washed in hot water. An old pillow is a home for dust, bacteria, fungus and other allergens.
The simple test to find out if you should replace your pillow - fold it in half and if it doesn't spring back into shape, it’s time to change it!
2. The television.
It’s hard to resist watching another episode on Netflix even when you know it's cutting out time from your precious sleep. It would be so much easier if the TV wasn't even in the bedroom, so take it out. As a bonus – you'll have a better relationship with your partner.
3. Aromatic Candles.
Say a big NO to any artificial odors in your bedroom. The impact of the scent can be unpredictable. What’s relaxing for one person can be an absolute stress for another. (Sorry, this applies to natural essential oils as well).
4. THAT chair.
You know what I'm talking about. That chair you don’t actually sit on, but just keep piling stuff on top of. Just looking at it raises your stress level. Find a better corner for that beautiful chair in another room (and lose the bad habit of dumping laundry on any flat surface, too).
5. Phone charger.
It’s a super clever trick to finally leave your cellphone out of your bedroom. I can’t say it enough - we are too addicted to our phones. If you're like me and you charge your phone during the night, plug it somewhere far from your bedroom. Your mind and body will thank you.
So… how was your sleep? If you want an even better one – HERE I am talking about The Things you should add to your bedroom ASAP. Let’s keep it even – 5 out, 5 in.
